Methodist MenReview of the Last Quarter The Cecil United Methodist Men have enjoyed some wonderful meals and programs this winter. In January our speaker was Dr. Robert Neeves with a presentation entitled, "Coping With Stress". In February, Rev. Felton May, Director of the Peninsula Conference Council on Ministries, spoke on evangelism. In March, Phil Johnson procured an excellent film on the Remington Farm. Coming Attractions 1. April's meeting is for our ladies. On April 27, 1983 at Sandy Cove, the Methodist Men will have their annual "Ladies' Night". See Phil Johnson, Nivin Logan or Richard Beardsley for tickets. (Cost $7.50 each) 2. May 14th, 1983 Annual Chicken Barbecue at Zion UMC (2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.). The proceeds will be used by the Methodist Men for their mission funds. The cost is $4.00 for adult tickets and $2.75 for children tickets. 3. May 25 will be the last monthly meeting for the 1982-83 year. It will be held at Moore's Chapel and Kevin Williams - who had his roots at our own church - will be our speaker. Kevin is a 23-year-old sophomore at Liberty Baptist College in Lynchburg Virginia. Liberty Baptist is a liberal arts college with a Christian basis and philosophy, founded in 1971 by Rev. Dr. Jerry Falwell as an outreach of Thomas Rhoads Baptist Church. Since 1971 the college has grown to a student body of more than 4,000 and it is moving toward university status. Kevin Williams made his decision to become a Christian in May of 1981. He is majoring in pastoral studies and upon completion of college he plans to enroll in Liberty Baptist Seminary. (REMINDER: Moore's Chapel has a "Kevin Williams' Scholarship Fund" through which you may make tax deductible contributions to help Kevin complete his preparation for full time Christian service. Make checks payable to Moore's Chapel and designate them to Kevin Williams' Scholarship Fund.) (Richard Beardsley) |
