News from the PewsUNITED METHODIST WOMEN NEWS
The United Methodist Women decided at the January 1983 meeting to change our meeting night to the third Monday of each month,
instead of the third Tuesday. Ladies, please mark your calendars. On January 15th we had the honor of serving the wedding
reception of Suzanne Bristow and Steve Marcalus. Friday, March lst,
we participated in the World Day of Prayer program held at Baldwin United
Methodist Church in Elk Mills. Susan Beardsley sang a solo and had a
reading. We are enjoying our Bible study, A Woman's Workshop of Faith
at our regular meetings. We are looking forward to our meeting on April
18th at the parsonage with Reverend Palmer and his family. Please dont
forget to circle May 16th, that is our Mother and Daughter banquet at the
Community House. Special entertainment is planned, so invite your friends
and neighbors. THOUGHT: A true test of Christian love: Do you help
those who cant help you in return?
(Dorothy Mendenhall) STORK REPORT If you believe in the Baby Stork then
you can believe hes been a busy little bird lately! First Kenneth and
Pam (Johnson) Eldreth were blessed with a beautiful baby boy, Kevin Emory.
Then Jim and Jennifer (Johnson) LeMaire had a precious baby girl, Montanna
Marie. If you think the parents are proud and happy, then see what joy the
little deliveries gave to the grandparents (Doug and Jane Johnson)! BELATED
WELCOME Moores Chapel received new members in the end of 1982
We regret that we did not recognize them during our last newsletter. A
very warm Christian welcome to: Mrs. Mary Cox, Mrs. Theresa DiFilippo,
Mrs. Jane Palmer and Mr. James LeMaire! We are very glad to have you with
us. DOUBLE
BAPTISM
On Palm Sunday, March 27, 1983, a brother and sister were baptized: Morgan and Ryan Lehr. Brother and sister made it through the Sacrament without a tear, and Morgan even said Bye-bye to Rev. Palmer as she left with relieved parents, Jeff & Ginny Lehr. MOTHER-DAUGHTER
DINNER
The annual Mother-Daughter dinner will be held on
Monday, May 16, 1983 at 6:30 p.m. at the Community House. The dinner menu
is always quite a varied one, since each lady brings a covered dish. The
Rev. William Scott, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Oxford, will be our
guest along with his many little puppet characters. Rev. Scott is a member
of the Fellowship of Christian Puppeteers, and has used puppets in a
humorous and an inspiring way to spread the gospel for many years. All mothers, daughters, sisters, friends and neighbors of Moores Chapel are welcome for an evening of fellowship. The men are also invited for the most important role of Waiters! (Doris Howett) |
