 i. e. '03 - April LeMaire's Mission to Ecuador

As many of you know, this past July I had the privilege and amazing opportunity to travel to Quito, Ecuador on a missions trip. First of all I would like to thank everyone for your financial help and, for your prayers while I was away. The theme for our trip was i. e. '03, which stands for " implosion explosion", the point that the theme is trying to get across is that, we must April LeMaire Mission Trip to Quito, Ecuador first fill our lives full of Christ and the Holy Spirit so much so that we "implode" from the inside, before we can "explode" with the love of Christ for others. This theme served everyone well while we were in Ecuador, and has continued to do so in my life today.

On our trip I had many amazing experiences with my other team members, with the whole group in our nightly services, and also with the Ecuadorians that I had the opportunity to interact with. I smile, because I am reminded of one day in particular when we went to a nursing home facility and spent the day with elderly folks. This was by far my favorite day, I think mostly just because God was just showing his love to me. We sat under a pavilion type patio and visited with old women and men. I particularly visited with an old woman, who I think is the oldest person I have ever seen, (well she looked that way anyway). So I was sitting with this lady and she was speaking Spanish to me that I didn't understand, and hugging me, and kissing my hands and cheeks. She was telling me something, and I may never know what, until I get to heaven but it was something special, I could tell because she was crying, and I am positive they were happy tears. I don't know why but this filled me so much with God's love, not because the old lady was crying, but because God chose to use me as an instrument of his love that day. He didn't have to, but the Lord choseApril LeMaire Mission Trip to Quito, Ecuador to let me be there that day and sit with an old woman who needed a hug. I am so grateful because I got to be the hands of Jesus for a day and just love on the old folks who needed some company, it was more powerful than I can explain. Through this experience God has humbled me with his love. See, even when we think we may not being doing anything great, by smiling at someone, or giving a compliment to someone who needed to hear it, whatever it may be, it is a witness of Christ's love, because that's what Jesus would do. By showing Christ's love we are doing God's work. I loved every minute of my trip, but you don't have to go to Ecuador to be a disciple of Jesus. We can show the love of Christ everyday as we are at work, or in my case, school. I challenge you to be the hands of Jesus and TRULY love others the way he loves us, because God chose you, and in return God will bless your life in unimaginable ways.
