Mission Moments Moore's Chapel supports Ray of Hope Mission Center<Note: Ray of Hope now has its
own web site, The Ray of Hope Mission Center in Port Deposit reaches out to our local families in need. With the love of the Lord, The Mission Center offers help with basic needs such as clothing, medicine, utility bills, etc. and it operates one of the largest free food pantries in western Cecil County. In addition Ray of Hope Mission Center passes out food baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas and is currently running a Toy Drive to collect new toys for their Christmas program. Because Frank Rinaldi, who runs the center believes "give a man a fish and he eats for a day teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime", the center also offers counseling, and job training skill classes such as computer literacy. Ray of Hope also helps families get connected with other available programs to help give a long term hand up not a short term hand out. Just recently Ray of Hope has been given an avenue to collect donations through The United Way of Maryland and The United Way of Delaware. Persons wishing to support Ray of Hope through The United Way of Maryland will assign their donation to Ray of Hope using the code #1272126 and through the United Way of Delaware the code is #7896. Moore's Chapel partners with Ray of Hope with a monthly donation as do several area churches. However Frank recently shared with Rev. Cohen that funds are low. Rev. Cohen will have a special offering basket at the door of the church for donations. Donations of time are also needed. Sallie Teague and Doug Johnson, from Moore's Chapel, volunteer regularly and you can speak with them to get a feel for the types of volunteer services needed. Donations can be made directly to Ray of Hope Mission Center, 960 Craigtown Road, Port Deposit, MD 21904. You are welcome to call Frank Rinaldi ( frank@rayofhopemissioncenter.org ) at 410-378-9800 to ask about his most current need. After speaking with Frank it is hard not to share in his compassion for people and in his enthusiasm to offer a "Ray of Hope" in troubled times. Stop by and shop at the mission's Thrift Store, which is one of their fund raisers. Ray of Hope has several events planned to collect toys and food and funds for the mission's Thanksgiving and Christmas needs. Sept 27th , Harvest Fest/ Toy Drive at Rising Sun Town Park, and Oct 25th 2nd Annual Fall Concert, Pleasant View Baptist Church, 7: 00p. m. Come enjoy an evening of music from several area church choirs and bell choirs. Love offering collected for Ray of Hope's Christmas program.
