United Methodist WomenThe United Methodist Women began 2004 with a Soup and Potato Lunch on February 1st raising $456 for mission projects. The annual Guess Who's Coming Dinner was held on February 7th with five host families and over sixty guest participants. All had a wonderful time. The Beef and Pig Roast was held on March 13th and 379 dinners were served raising approximately $1,500 for mission projects. The Mother-Daughter Banquet will be held on Sunday May 16th. This is always a wonderful meal served by the men and special entertainment will be enjoyed. All women and girls in the church are invited to attend. We were honored to have a special guest speaker, Lillian Mink, at the March meeting held at Emily Shoun's house. Lillian is the mother of Gary Mink, who with his wife Rebecca and children serve as missionaries in the African country of Namibia. The Minks are from Cecil County and have been a mission project of Moore's United Methodist Women for many years. Lillian showed a video and spoke of their success in establishing a children's home for orphans, most of whom have been orphaned due to the death of both parents from AIDS. |
