Mission Moments

Through your support of mission, you, the people at Moore's Chapel, have the awesome opportunity to reach outside the walls of our church in the name of Jesus and change lives in our community, nation and world.

Through your giving of time, talents, prayers, and financial resources each one of you has touched many lives. I thought you might like to reflect on how your giving has made a difference in 2003.

On the local level, you have extended your hand to many men, women and children in Cecil County who are homeless and downtrodden. Through partnering with The Ray of Hope Mission, The Wayfare House a division of The Meeting Ground, and The Cecil County Help Center, you have provided for the basic needs of food, shelter, clothing, as well as support and counseling and education to help these people get back on their feet.

You have reached out to our local youth in the Rising Sun area through your support of The Exchange Youth Outreach, helping provide a safe place for them to gather, and caring people dedicated to exposing these youth to the love of Jesus and his Word

You have supported our young athletes and helped to strengthen their commitment to Christ through The Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

You have helped The Pregnancy Crisis Center through the baby bottle drive. You brightened the lives of the men and women at Calvert Nursing Home with your Christmas gifts. The Candlelight Service offering has gone into a community fund to help with emergency needs in the immediate community such as heat, electricity etc.

On the national level, you have partnered with Dr. Dobson and Focus on the Family in his tireless work to preserve the American family in all areas from raising children and teens, to adoption, preserving marriage and Christian family values. Through your support of Dr. Dobson you join other Christians in affecting legislation that will be a detriment to the Christian family.

You assembled emergency relief kits for UMCOR for disaster relief.

At Christmas you assembled shoe boxes with toys and articles that will touch the hearts of less fortunate children and show them Jesus.

On the international level, you helped to send one of our own teens on a mission trip to spread the love of Jesus and the Gospel to the people of Ecuador.

Through your support of Scripture Ministries of India you have helped hundreds of people in India learn to read, freeing them from oppression, poverty and spiritual darkness and restoring their dignity. The primers used in the literary classes are of Bible content. You have aided in bringing many to Christ, aided in the building of churches, permanent housing, and educating new teachers.

Also internationally, you support Sister Jean Gabriel, and The Convent of The Transfiguration in their efforts to better the lives of the people of The Dominican Republic. Sister Jean's Mission is dedicated to education for both children and parents, and child care, The mission also provides a much needed medical clinic. In addition to financial support, you have helped by sending Sister Jean boxes of clothing, bedding, diapers and supplies.

Through your support of the United Methodist Women's missions fund raisers, such as Soup and Potato Luncheon, Beef and Pig Roast, bake table at the Pancake Breakfast, the Yard Sale, Wolfgang Candy Sales etc, you have enabled the UMW to also help the Gary Mink Family who are missionaries, and CAM International in Guatemala.

The Mission and Evangelism Committee meets 02/03/04 to prayerfully seek a vision for 2004 then begin chartering a course of action. Your input is always welcome, or if you feel led to serve, please feel free to contact or Rev. .Jack Cohen
