Reverend Kyung Mo Koo
Who Is Jesus?

Reverend KyungMo Koo

The people of Moore’s Chapel are looking forward to continuing with God’s work in our community under the leadership of our new pastor, KyungMo Koo. Pastor Koo, his wife, SunAe, daughter Rachael (age 17), and son Justin (age 9) came to us on July 24th, 2005 from the Virginia Conference. “He and his family immediately won our hearts” said Lois Taylor, when the District Superintendent Rev. John Mitchell brought Pastor Koo to meet with the PPRReverend KyungMo Koo and family Committee for the first time in April. Other Committee members describe him as “a man of God”, “very personable”, and “having a sincere enthusiasm for ministry”.

Pastor Koo expressed that he thoroughly enjoys meeting and working with people and he is looking forward to preaching the Word of God to adults as well as children and youth. In addition to preaching, Pastor Koo has an enthusiasm for many areas of ministry and some of his past experiences include leading prayer meetings, teaching bible studies, discipling small group leaders and laity, the Barnabas ministry, all areas of missions, short term mission trips, visitations, and counseling those in crisis; as well as being involved in the active workings of the local church, district, and conference.

Pastor Koo’s education for ministry includes a Bachelor of Theology degree from the Methodist Theological Seminary in Seoul Korea. He has a Master of Divinity degree from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC and received a Doctor of Ministry degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in May 2007.

His past appointments in the United Methodist Church began in 1991 as Associate Pastor, Seoul Korea, then Education Director in Potomac, MD.  He then pastored churches in Salisbury, Mardela Springs, MD.  Pastor Koo comes to us from an Associate Pastor position in the large Koran United Methodist Church in the greater Washington, DC area.
