Well, the party is over !! Although the attendance
was not what we had hoped for, it was made up for, by the enthusiasm of those
that attended. AND, the "grown-ups" had a great time as
well. The building was decorated with the school and prom colors;
streamers were waving "Hello" to everyone from inside and outside
the church. We started out with a cook-out over an open fire (hot
dogs, marshmallows, and snacks). The boys also enjoyed some midnight
basketball in the church parking lot.
Next, the group viewed a photo "slide-show"
from the Rising Sun High School prom that had just ended 3 hours
ago. This required a sort of "pony express" delivery of
digital photos that were quickly processed, put on a CD, and displayed on
the "Big Screen" in the church.
We all enjoyed a great movie on the "Big
Screen" as well. With full stereo sound (and some bass boosting
of the sound system), all that was missing was the popcorn....
Games, games, games, and fun...... Luckily, when we
installed our projector system from the ceiling (only weeks ago), we had
the foresight to run every video cable known to man. You can not
imagine what a Play Station looks like on a 12 foot screen AND what is
sounds like blasting in full stereo from the sound system. While the
boys raced cars, the girls enjoyed some rather unusual games downstairs.
As the night wore on..... our strength began to
wane. But the 2nd shift of adults arrived at 4 AM and the smell of
breakfast cooking kept everybody (well ALMOST everybody) awake. At 5
AM, breakfast was served - Belgium waffles, great scrambled eggs (where did
Doug Johnson get that recipe ?), juices, fruit, and coffee.
I honestly think that we didn't want the night to end,
but the sun was up and it was time to head home after a great prom and a
really great time of fellowship. The youth wish
to thank everyone that helped in the planning, preparation, and celebration.
Here is a little
peek at the night's activities. (photo slide-show)...
If you have a high speed connection, you can view an
"AVI" movie clip of
Some sort of "really weird"
game and "rotating"
table tennis
Dial-up connections will have to "right-click" and download
the AVI file first...
All we can say is...... Wait till next year !
