We are an “inter-generational” church, from the little ones to the seniors, and everyone in-between. There are no perfect people and no perfect churches, so however you show up is fine. We strive to grow in our relationship with God and to reflect God’s goodness to those we meet.
Although we’ve been serving Christ for over 149 years, we’re young at heart. We offer both contemporary and traditional worship and a relevant message that will make a difference in your life.
We are located at 392 Blake Road off Blue Ball Road in Elkton, Maryland. We have an online service at 8:30am, and an in-person (socially-distanced, masks are required) service at 10am. We offer Children’s Ministry at our 10am service. There are many opportunities to reach others, connect to the community, serve God and others, grow in our faith, and go carry the Gospel out into the world throughout the week.
We firmly believe that embodying the values of Jesus are an integral part of what it means to be a Christian.
These are Moore’s Chapel’s 6 Core Values:
We welcome all people from all walks of life. We love, honor and respect all. (Hebrews 13:2, Matthew 10:40)
We rely more on God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) than ourselves. We hunger for more of his presence. (Psalm 59:17, 1 John 4:16, Matthew 5:6)
We are called to transform a region. We collaborate with others in the community to advance the kingdom of God. (Ephesians 4:16)
We agree on the big things and let go of the small things. We acknowledge that we are under the umbrella of grace and we extend it to each other. (Colossians 3:12-14, Ephesians 2:8-9)
We value and care for people at all stages of faith and life journey. Diversity in faith stage and age is a strength that allows us to have mentors and learn from each other. (1 Peter 5:2)
We strive to learn and live by God’s word. We make decisions through the lens of Scripture. (Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Psalm 119:105)
WHAT WE BELIEVE
United Methodists share a common heritage with all Christians. According to our foundational statement of beliefs in The Book of Discipline, we share the following basic affirmations in common with all Christian communities:
- Our Christian Beliefs: God
God, who is one, is revealed in three distinct persons.
Our Christian Beliefs: Jesus
We believe in the mystery of salvation through Jesus Christ. God became human in Jesus of Nazareth; and his life, death and resurrection demonstrate God’s redeeming love.
Our Christian Beliefs: The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is God’s present activity in our midst. When we sense God’s leading, God’s challenge, or God’s support or comfort, it’s the Holy Spirit at work.
Our Christian Beliefs: Human Beings
Genesis 1:27 asserts that we’ve been made in the image of the Creator. Like God we have the capacity to love and care, to communicate, and to create.
Our Christian Beliefs: The Church
The church is the body of Christ, an extension of Christ’s life and ministry in the world today. Read More
Our Christian Beliefs: The Bible
We believe that the Bible is the primary authority for our faith and practice.
Our Christian Beliefs: God’s Reign
The kingdom or reign of God is both a present reality and future hope.
